It’s Friday and you just got paid. The new Star Wars film just came out, so you decide to treat yourself and a few of your friends to a night out at the movies. You’ve been waiting for months for this film to come out; nothing can ruin this night. You’re in the movie theater, enjoying a great movie with your friends and the film is about to reach the climax. But suddenly all of your friends get up, then you get up and realize that everyone is standing up. For some reason you have this strange urge for popcorn and soda. Your friend Jack, who has been talking non stop about the movie for the past two months, says “Let's go get some popcorn and soda.” Everyone else agrees so you all decide to go and get some snacks. The line is extremely long, but eventually everyone gets snacks. However, when you get back the movie is over and your night is ruined. Although it may seem ridiculous, this is how many people view the effects of subliminal messages. Since subliminal messages lie below your conscious awareness they are constantly feared.
